The parliamentary Public Accounts Committee is planning to launch an inquiry into fraud and corruption cases involving public officers.

The inquiry is aimed to force the implicated officers to explain how they used the public resources including those involved in illegal land deals.

The Committee’s Chairperson Shadreck Namalomba believes such a strategy will help to recover and protect public resources.

Parliament has already adopted the 2017 audit query report involving Malawi missions abroad as well as various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

In past years, Malawi has witnessed cases of corruption involving higher public officers and this move will ensure that officers are held accountable.
