Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Mangochi Central Constituency Victoria Kingstone has adopted a primary school learner sported wearing packet of First Choice Milk as a face mask.
The photo of the girl identified as Amina went viral on social media on Tuesday, a day before learners in both private and public schools in the country resumed classes after a 6 months break due to COVID-19 outbreak.
The photo attracted mixed reactions with many calling upon the Tonse Alliance government under President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to provide face masks to needy students.
MP Kingstone confirmed of adopting the girl in a statement posted on her official facebook page seen by this publication.
“Good afternoon, let me inform you that I have managed to trace this child and I will donate masks to school. I have personally adopted this child be assured I will be providing her schools needs like uniform,schools and other necessities. Allow me to thank the teacher, madam Zuhra Mtewa for sending SOS. Be assured Amina is in safe hands now. Zikomo,” wrote Kingstone.
Meanwhile government is yet to comment on calls to provide facemasks to the needy students across the country.
