As leadership squabbles continue to rock the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), some district committees for Nsanje have endorsed the Party’s Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa to take over the party’s presidency.

The development comes barely two weeks after the DPP Central Committee led by the party’s President Peter Mutharika fired Nankhumwa and other top officials for pushing for an early convention.

The Nsanje District Committee said if the party is to bounce back in 2025, Nankhumwa is the only solution.

The committee then urged all DPP supporters in Nsanje to rally behind Nankhumwa ahead of the forthcoming convention.

Nankhumwa who is also leader of opposition in Parliament is currently crisscrossing the country thanking Malawians for voting for Mutharika.

In all his meetings Nankhumwa has insisted that there is need for dialogue for the party to stand as a strong contender in the next elections.

The party is yet to comment on the matter.
