A woman from Morbi district of Gujarat was arrested after she allegedly murdered her 11-year-old stepson. The woman had allegedly grown insecure after the birth of her first child.
The incident came to light when the police fished out the body of the 11-year-old boy from a canal. The body was recovered around 13 days after the boy’s murder. The accused was identified as Bhavisha Prajapati.
Prajapati got married to Jayesh and the two became parents to a son. However, after giving birth to a child, Prajapati started feeling insecure of Jayesh’s son from his first marriage who was identified as Dhruv.
On October 6, Dhruv went missing from his residence and his family started looking for him. When the family members could not find the 11-year-old boy, they approached the police and lodged a missing complaint, The Times of India reported.
As the boy did not return and was neither found, the Halvad police registered an offence of abduction. The local police continued looking for the 11-year-old boy for the next 10 days but could not locate him. Meanwhile, the police started suspecting Prajapati as she was the last person who had seen the boy.
The woman had asked Dhruv to take a bath near the canal. During interrogation, the woman broke down and confessed that she had pushed the 11-year-old boy into the canal. On Sunday, the water inlet of the canal was closed and the body of the boy was fished out by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
