A man from Coimbatore was allegedly murdered by a woman and her mother who had been harassed by him. The man had allegedly made several obscene phone calls to the woman last week. The incident took place on Tuesday.

The deceased man was identified as N Periyasamy. He was a resident of Arul Nagar, Rathinapuri in Coimbatore. The accused woman’s name has been changed to Shreya and her mother’s name has been changed to Sujata.

A few years ago, Sujata’s husband passed away. Both the women used to live in Karamadai, Coimbatore. Around a week ago, Shreya received a missed call from an unknown number. The 23-year-old woman called back on the same number and started getting calls from it.

Allegedly, the caller used to make obscene remarks during the calls, hence, Shreya took the decision of recording them. Shreya also told her mother about the phone calls and the two women took the decision of identifying the caller, The Times of India reported. The two women then asked the accused to come to Periyar Nagar on Tuesday afternoon.

At around 2 pm, the man reached Periyar Nagar and stook outside Shreya’s house. The two women stepped out of their residence and allegedly started arguing with the accused. When the argument escalated, the two women thrashed Periyasamy with logs, injuring him on his legs, head, face and lips.

Locals alerted the police about the incident and the body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. A case of murder was registered by the police and an investigation is underway.
