The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Service in the Northern Region has netted 55 Ethiopians who entered the country illegally at Chilumba roadblock in Karonga District.

Blackwell Lungu, the department’s Public Relations Officer in the region confirmed the development, saying the illegal immigrants were aided by Malawians but some escaped in the process.

According to Lungu, the 55 have been remanded at Mzuzu Prison pending court trial.
