Citizen For Transformation (CFT) has dismissed allegations that its Commander in Chief (CIC) Timothy Mtambo is using sirens when campaigning for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate in Karonga Central Constituency ahead of November 10, 2020 parliamentarian elections.
In a statement made available to Face of Malawi, CFT described the news as shocking and that the accusations are being perpetuated by United Transformation Movement (UTM) supporters.
The statement further added that the said allegations are not true and that they are nothing but cheap propaganda.
“We would like to place it on record that the aforesaid allegations are not true and are nothing but a product of a systematic smear campaign propaganda, perpetrated by CFT rival groups and UTM agents,” read part of the statement.
According to the statement which has been signed by Negracious Justin, CFT’s spokesperson, alleged that the propaganda is being sponsored by other overzealous candidates vying for the legislator position and other UTM top officials to tame the image of CFT leader.
“The CFT has been following all the various acts of insults (through paid social media PR agents) from some overzealous UTM supporters and leaders which are all designed at denting the image of the CIC and the movement, in the spirit of peaceful coexistence, the CFT has often chosen not to respond on these allegations,” Justin said.
UTM is yet to comment on the allegations leveled against them by the Tonse Alliance partner, CFT.
