Malawi President Mrs Joyce Ntila Banda on Thursday July, 12th, 2012 fell down mysteriously at a public event in the capital Lilongwe.

The President had just finished inspecting pavilions at the USAID funded programme when she is suspected to have missed a step or due to a health scare. The President hit her head against the wooden step as she climbed the presidential podium.

Presidential aides surrounded her, quickly cleaning her up before proceeding to her seat. Banda was in the area to launch the launch K6.8 billion ‘Feed the Future’ project.

Despite the fall, Banda went on to preside over the launch of Integrating Nutrition in Value Chains Project(INVCP) designed to deliver Feed the Future and Global health initiatives in Tidi Village, Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe without any problems.

Recently, there have been concerns about the President’s ill health especially an illness to do with her legs. Government and indeed State House have all refused comment on these reports although our source at the State House has confirmed the reports.
