All university of Malawi constituent colleges (Kamuzu College of Nursing, College of Medicine, Chancellor College, Polytechnic) have been closed indefinitely. the Colleges have been forced to shut down due to the financial crisis.

However, to avoid students upheaval, the Head of the University directed that the students should be told that the colleges are closing for Christmas vacation.

However, inside sources have revealed that the all the colleges will not open any day soon. Malawi has been under the economic crisis since the era of late Bingu wa Mutharika.

Malawians are demonstrating against the current regimes unpopular policies on economic recovery which the activists claim are retrogressive.

The memo released by the Registrar of Chancellor College revealed that “due to circumstances beyond our control, the College will not be able to resume teaching on 2nd January 2013”, as promised.

EXTENDED CHRISTMAS

I write to inform you that due to circumstances beyond our control, the College will not be able to resume teaching on 2nd January 2013, as Calendered.

You are therefore being advised to go home during this holiday.

Students residing in the College hostels are being requested to vacate the hostels after breakfast on Wednesday, 26th December 2012. The College Bus will be available from Tuesday 25th December 2012, to ferry students to the Zomba Bus Depot.

Please note that a Press Release will be published in the local newspapers during the first week of January 2013, to invite students to return to College.
