State President Lazarus Chakwera on Sunday made an impromptu visit to Mzuzu Central Hospital where he visited a little girl who is receiving treatment after being raped.

Chakwera who was accompanied by the First Lady Monica Chakwera made the unannounced visit to the hospital after attending the Remembrance Day Memorial Service to honor fallen heroes who fought the world’s major wars.

‘Following today’s Remembrance Day Memorial Service, the First Lady and I made an unannounced visit to Mzuzu Central Hospital to see a little girl receiving treatment there for severe injuries sustained from being defiled,” Chakwera said.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Chakwera said the little girl sustained severe injuries from being defiled.

He further expressed dismayed with the increased rape cases that are taking place in the country.

He then assured the populace that a taskforce under the Ministry of Homeland Security will soon be formed to help in fighting an ending the malpractice.

“A taskforce under the Ministry of Homeland Security will soon be formed to help bring these demonic acts of defilement to a stop,” he said.

He then appealed to everyone to protect children saying it is the responsibility of each and every Malawian.
