The Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) management has refuted allegations making round on social media that one of their students has been involved in filming pornography and has been arrested.

Within the week social medial platforms were awash with video of a girl alleged to be from MAGU university filming a pornography video as she was seen playing with cucumber to quench her libido.

It was further reported that the lady who is alleged to be Chimwemwe Chipungu was arrested by the Malawi Police Service.

MAGU’s University Registrar Albert Newa dismissed the reports saying that the alleged student is not from MAGU, therefore appealing to the general public that the issue should be regarded as fake news

“MAGU categorically refutes and declares that the said student is not a MAGU student. Therefore, this is Fake News with intent to damage the reputation of the school,” Newa said.

He further continued that the Malawi police confirmed to have not arrested any person in connection with the video “thus confirming the reality that this is Fake News. Some sources also claim that this article trended in 2018 from West Africa,”

He therefore called upon the general public to desist from spreading news stories that may destroy one’s reputation adding that it is part of internet bullying.

Following the development, MAGU has said they will engage legal counsel to track and take legal action against persons behind the spread of the fake news using the Electronic Transaction and Cyber Security Law and other relevant legal instruments.
