A-17-year-old male juvenile has drowned in a well in Chipako Village in Nseluka area in Mungwi district.

Bwalya Chipako who is the grandfather to the boy identified him as Francis Chileshe.

Mr Chipako revealed that the incident happened on Wednesday around 12:00 hours when Chileshe  was on a mission to retrieve a five litres container used to draw water from the bole-hole, situated about hundred metres away from his home.

He explained that the boy who was putting on slippers popularly known as tropicals drowned, after skidding off on the bore-hole and landed inside.

Mr Chipako said the boy who was in the company of some other juveniles who watched helplessly as he fell in the well and later informed the members of the community who in turn informed the police and the fire brigade.

Deputy Northern Province Police Commissioner Fwambo Siame who also confirmed the incident in separate interview said the fire brigade rushed to the scene around 16:00 hours in a bid to retrieve the body.

Commissioner Siame disclosed that the diseased has since been buried in the village, as there was no suspicion of foul play in the incident.
