A family In Zimbabwe is mourning the death of their daughter who was reportedly struck by a suspected by a mentally challenged man as she was coming from writing a Grade 7 examination,

The unfortunate incident was confirmed by Acting Midlands police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende who said the incident occurred near Mupata Township Shopping Center in Gweru:

“I can confirm that we are investigating a case of a Grade Seven pupil who was struck with a stone by a  man suspected to be mentally disturbed in the head.”

The girl died on the spot after the assault. It is suspected that the girl was coming from writing and examination at a local school when the incident happened.”

“It is alleged that when the girl got to Mtapa Shopping Centre in Mtapa High Density suburb a man emerged from behind and hit her with a stone near her ear.”

The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody. The suspect will be examined as it is suspected that he could be suffering from mental illness

A witness, Mr Sydlen Chimalizeni who resides close to the scene narrated to The Herald how the young girl Natasha Manunure who was reportedly holding an Agriculture paper in her hands when tragedy struck met her fate:

…heard a sharp scream and went out to investigate and saw Natasha lying on the ground groaning in pain.

I knelt down intending to render some first aid on the girl, but before I knew it, some white foam started coming out of her mouth. There was a lot of blood all over the scene.

According to Chimalizeni, as he attended to the scene, he saw the suspect, identified as Derick Musekiwa, running away from the scene.

The death of Natasha comes a few days after a Masvingo man killed his nephew and boiled his head in Chief Zimuto’s area.
