A habitual drinker has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 30-year-old wife at their residence in Killamura village within the limits of Belonia police station in North Sonaicherri, Tripura on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Soumitra Reang, while his now-deceased wife was identified as Sandhyaran Murasingh. Reang has been depressed since last few years. On Saturday night, a heated argument broke out between the couple over some issue. During the course of the argument, Reang, who was in an inebriated condition, assaulted Murasingh. Later, in a fit of rage, he picked up a sharp weapon and beheaded Murasingh.

The police rushed to the spot after being informed by neighbours. On entering the house, they found Murasingh’s decapitated body lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Reang was also found lying near the body in an inebriated state. He was arrested and booked for the murder, according to a report by The Times of India.
