President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is today launching the National forestry season in Tukombo, Nkhata Bay.
Before the launch, Chakwera visited the family of of late Aleke Banda where he planted a tree.
A freedom fighter, AKB, as he was fondly called, also served as Minister of Finance and Agriculture after reintroduction of Multiparty politics in 1994.
Chakwera, apart from visiting the family, will also be planting some trees at the Aleke Banda family’s home.
At least 60 million trees are expected to be planted this season.
