Police in Blantyre have said they have effected investigations against Judge Healey Potani of the Supreme Court on the allegations that he assaulted a police officer who was on duty at his home.

National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera confirmed however he said the matter is still under investigations hence more details cannot be said.

Sergeant Emmanuel Sinda is the said Police Officer who has lodge a complaint against Judge Potani claiming that he assaulted him.

However the reasons that lead Potani to assault the said officer remains unknown.

The incident allegedly took place on Monday.

Potani, chaired the panel of five Judges who presided over the presidential elections case which were seen being nullified on February 3, 2020, citing massive irregularities.

Therefore the Judges ordered for fresh presidential polls which were held on June 23, 2020 and saw former President Peter Mutharika and his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) losing.

Potani was later promoted as the Supreme Court Judge by President Lazarus Chakwera.
