The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) has said the country is prepared to respond to tropical Cyclone Chalane which is expected to hit the country today.

The cyclones is likely to cause flooding in some parts of the country, according to Dodma.

Speaking to the press, James Chiusiwa- commissioner for the Dodma said currently the department has sent a search and rescue team to the Lower Shire in preparation for the cyclone.

Chiusiwa added that the department will be sending funds to councils -to be used in addressing some of the challenges which may occur as a result of the cyclone.
