A class 12 student has crushed an 18-month-old baby boy under the wheels of his luxury sedan in Rajkot district of Gujarat. The incident took place at ‘naasta gali’ near Bhaktinagar circle of Rajkot on Monday afternoon.
Police arrested the 18-year-old driver of the car on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Yash Bagdai.
Police said the tragic incident took place when the victim Vansh Surela and his 7-year-old sister were playing on the road, according to a report in Times of India. The victim’s parents, who sell vegetables, were resting on the pavement at the time of incident.
The accused drove into the lane from the Ring Road area and stopped on the roadside near the vegetable vendor’s car to talk on the phone.
In the meantime, the victim stood in front of the car to search for something. The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera. In the CCTV, the boy could be seen under the car to search for something.
After finishing the call, Bagdai failed to see the baby squatting in front of the car and accelerated the engine crushing the child.
