Known more for her risqué outfits than anything else, South African socialite Zodwa Wabantu has extended her hustle to farming.

With few social events on the calendar and gatherings being strictly limited because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Zodwa recently revealed, via Instagram, that she had ventured into poultry.

“Your Zodwa Wabantu Chicken Business,” she posted.

Zodwa said with the social scene on ice, there was need for people like her to be innovative and find viable ways of surviving.

“We don’t know what the future holds for artists, and I don’t want to be broke. That’s my biggest fear. I had to be proactive and think of other ways to make money.”

Her business is based in Mpumalanga Province, and she will also be selling in Johannesburg.

Singer Kelly Khumalo was quick to back Zodwa’s business.

“Sengiyapheka nja yami (I am cooking), you don’t know how happy I am to have met you, all the best with your business,” posted Khumalo in response to Zodwa’s announcement.

“You know I love money and you supporting my business will help me to buy eggs and bread, and also pay water. Thank you so much,” Zodwa responded.

Last year, Zodwa said she would be going back to school in 2021, in addition to launching alcohol brand “Zodwa Wabantu Premium Cider”. She is also into property and personal care products.
