Eight employees of Old Mutual Malawi, one of the leading insurance companies in the country have tested positive to Coronavirus.

This has been confirmed in a statement released by management on Thursday 21, 2021 made available to faceofmalawi.

According to the statement, the employees are currently in isolation.

“As at 21 January 2021 Old Mutual Malawi had registered eight COVID-19 positive cases among our staff members at Blantyre and Lilongwe offices. All affected staff, their primary contacts and close families have been placed in quarantine.

“Five of the members are non-customer facing staff and three are customer facing but fell ill while on annual leave with two having briefly visited the head office prior to taking COVID-19 test. Additionally, one affected member is stationed in our alternative business premises where there is no customer interface and two have been working from home since December,” reads in part the statement.

The statement further says that all Old Mutual Offices that its occupants tested positive to COVID-19 have been disinfected.

So far a total of 9121 people have tested positive to COVID-19 with 396 fatalities.
