Government has asked all form four students especial from boarding schools to undergo COVID-19 tests after finishing writing the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination.
The call has been made in a statement from the Ministry of Health made available to faceofmalawi.
“As you are aware form four candidates will be finalizing MSCE exams tomorrow, Friday, 29th January, 2021. Government would like to give guidance on how the Form Four candidates from the Boarding Schools will be released to ensure minimized risk of COVID transmission.
“The Head teachers should release all Form Four candidates in Boarding Schools once they have completed the exams and inform the candidates, parents and guardians to ensure that once they get home, they should get tested for #COVID19 at a nearest government health facility,” said Chikondano C. Mussa.
He added: “In some schools where the health personnel have already screened and tested the MSCE candidates should proceed home but should strictly be on quarantine for 14 days. If they observe any COVID-19 symptoms, they should immediately inform the local health authorities.
“The candidates are reminded to strictly observe all the preventive measures when they are in transit to their homes i.e. proper wearing of mask, frequent handwashing with soap, sanitizing and avoiding overcrowded places. The same preventive measures should be observed at home.”
