Commentators are describing as inconsiderate the decision by health and education authorities to release form four students before conducting Covid-19 tests.

A joint statement from the two ministries directs head teachers to release the exam candidates after completion of their papers today, only to have the tests done after they get home.

The development means that authorities have left the responsibility of testing the students in the hands of their parents and guardians.

However, the move has sparked public concern, as people fear those that may be Covid positive will spread the virus because many of them travel using public transport and chances are high of them also infecting their respective families.

Commenting on the matter Director of the Health Rights and Education Program Maziko Matemba fears the move will endanger more parents and communities to which the secondary school graduates are going.
