The Competitions and Fair Trading Commission has said that Shalina Pharmaceuticals Zambia Limited has voluntarily ordered a recall of their product Cevite Vitamin C batch numbers 0371572 and 0372251 which was in Malawian markets for failing to meet prescribed quality standards.

According to a statement from the commission, investigations they carried out yesterday Wednesday revealed that the recalled products Cevite Vitamin C were being sold in some pharmacy shops in Lilongwe.

“The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) would like to inform the general public that there has been a voluntary recall of Cevite Vitamin C batch numbers 0371572 and 0372251 by Shalina Pharmaceuticals Zambia Limited. The products have been recalled because they have failed to meet prescribed quality standards,” reads in part the statement.

The Commission’s Public Relations Officer Innocent Helema said they have since advised consumers who bought the products to return them to the pharmacies for proper disposal.

Cevite Vitamin C was being stocked in some shops in Lilongwe, viewed as useful in boosting the immune system in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
