Police in Mulanje on Tuesday impounded nine motorcycles for contravening road traffic regulations.

Mulanje Police Public Relation Officer Gresham Ngwira said the offences include riding unregistered motorcycles, riding uninsured motorcycles, riding without drivers licence and riding without crash helmet.

He said for the owners to take back their motorcycles, they are required to produce certificate of registration from the Directorate of Road Traffic and Safety Services (DRTSS) and a Certificate of Insurance from a recognised Insurance firm.

Ngwira assured people in the district of their commitment in ensuring sanity on the roads.
