The ministry of civic education has admitted facing resistance in dissemination of messages meant to raise people’s practice of Covid19.

This comes amid growing calls for awareness more especially in the looming roll out of the Covid19 vaccine.

In the wake of a recent call by President Lazarus Chakwera to conduct more awareness for the Covid19 fight, the ministry launched a program called Covid 19 Loud Hailing Campaign.

The project was also aimed at boosting the existing information dissemination and awareness to do with the pandemic.

Timothy Mtambo, minister of civic education said currently, most people are resistant to change in their behaviors in line with the set preventive measures.

‘’We have noted that most people are only complying once they see a police officer or just to gain access to facilities. We find this as a challenge’’ said Mtambo.

He has since hinted that the ministry will continue coming up with new initiatives to civic educate people on the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of local government has disclosed that councils will start rolling out free facemasks to elderly people, disabled people and those who may not manage to buy masks.

According to Anjoya Mwanza, Spokesperson in the ministry has stressed that the process of procuring facemasks is underway to be distributed to needy soon.
