A total of six notorious robbers are in police custody in the capital Lilongwe
Lilongwe Police Station Public Relations Officer Joseph Kachikho confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press.
He said the arrest follows a series of robberies with violence in Kanengo, Kawale and Area 24.
Kachikho said the law enforcers have also recovered some stolen items such as plasma screens, hometheater and others.
Earlier this week the police warned Malawians of thieves who are using a crying baby to steal from different houses in the city.
According to National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera, the thieves leave a crying baby outside the house while watching from a distance.
Once the owner opens the door, the robbers sneak out of their hiding place to attack and rob the house.
