Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has fired two senior and lead party officials from the Central Region for showering their support towards Kondwani Nankhumwa.

The changes follow a fracas that erupted on Friday in the capital Lilongwe where youth cadets attacked DPP spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira at Crown Hotel in the capital Lilongwe.

According to the statement seen by this publication, Mutharika has fired Central Region Director of Women Miriam Chimbalanga of Sendera Sisters and has since replaced her with Mary Kunje.

Director of Youth Lajabu Malimba has also been shown an exit-door and he has been replaced by Oswald Chirwa.

Mutharika has also appointed Zelia Chakale as Acting Vice President for Central region replacing convicted Uladi Mussa who is currently serving a 6 years jail sentence.

DPP is currently rocked in leadership crisis as some top officials want Mutharika replaced, saying he is too old to govern the party.
