President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has warned Malawians to stop attacking health workers treating patients who have tested for COVID-19 in the country.

The warning follows report of the attack of health workers in Kasungu and Balaka districts who accompanied the remains of COVID-19 for burial.The health workers assaulted the health workers.

As this was not enough, recently angry community in Ntcheu attacked an Ambulance driver who carried the remains of COVID-19 victim for burial. The angry community smashed the Ambulance.

It took the intervention of the law enforcers who rescued the driver from the angry mob.

Speaking at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe during the weekly broadcasts to the Nation. Dr Chakwera on Sunday urged Malawians to support the health workers and not to attack them.

Chakwera then warned perpetrators that once caught they will face the law.

Turning to the war against COVID-19, Chakwera said if the country if the country stays the course of prevention and treatment, the war against COVID-19 will be easily won.

So far over 1000 Malawians have succumbed to COVID-19.
