The High Court in Blantyre will on March 9, 2021 deliver a ruling on whether Dr. Thomson Mpinganjira has a case to answer or not in an attempted judges bribery case.

High Court and Supreme Court Registrar Gladys Gondwe confirmed of the development in an interview with the press on Tuesday.

Mpinganjira is being charged with attempting to bribe a panel of five judges who presided over the 2019 Presidential election case with the aim of circumventing justice.

He wanted the Judges to rule in favour of former President Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive party (DPP) and Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) then headed by Jane Ansah.

But the Judges ruled in favour of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Saulos Chilima by nullifying the polls.

The Court also called for fresh Presidential polls which was held on June 23, 2020.
