Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has expressed concern over laxity by some people in adhering to Covid-19 preventive measures, after noting a decrease in new cases being recorded.

Chiponda, who is also the Co-chairperson of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19, says now is not the time to relax, urging people to continue observing the measures as the disease remains a threat.

She has reminded Malawians that all the measures that the Taskforce introduced, including reduced bus capacity, wearing of masks in public places and limiting of 50 people in public gatherings remain effective.

Chiponda has also disclosed that the first consignment of the vaccine will arrive in the country on Friday this week.
