As the sit-in by teachers has entered the third week, leaners in Lilongwe have taken to the streets in solidarity with their teachers who are demanding Covid-19 risk allowance.

The angry students blocked area 23 Town Road in the Capital whilst chanting various songs and petting stones on cars passing at Chiwoko School.

This has resulted in unnecessary queues as motorists are avoiding the way and are now using Chilinde Parish road via CCDC to town and other working place.

Teachers stay away in public schools has entered week three, as classes remain suspended.

In Mzuzu, leaners have been sent back to their homes as teachers are continuing absconding work.

The development has prompted some teachers to take an advantage of the school suspension to offer part time lessons.

The Teachers Union of Malawi is demanding government to provide COVID 19 risk allowances to teachers if classes are to resume.
