Renowned former cerebrated musician by the name of Stain Manyowa has expressed interest to contest as Member of Parliament in what is now known as Lithipe ward as it is yet to be Lithipe constituency.

This follows the ongoing process demarcation of the ward into two constituencies by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Manyowa said the process of demarcating the constituency into two was supposed to be done in March but was suspended due to the issue of Covid -19.

He said the process will resume in April and Lithipe ward will be turn into Lithipe constituency where he intends to contest under Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ticket.

“I have decided to contest under DPP because more people especially United Transformation Movement (UTM) supporters are telling me to contest under DPP,” he said.

This time around he has all the confidence that he will win because of the support and encouragement he is receiving from people in the constituency.

Previously Manyowa contested in Zomba Chingale constituency under United Democratic Front (UDF) ticket and lost for three times in a row since 2009.
