The Blantyre Magistrate’s Court has adjourned a case in which suspended Medical Aid Society of Malawi (Masm) chief commercial officer Andrew Ngomwa is accused of defiling his 16-year old niece.

The adjournment follows a request by defence lawyer Mayele Fostino to allow the court to adjourn the matter for 48 hours. He argued that the State served the defence with fresh documents and they needed time to go through them.

After hearing from both the State and defence, Chief Resident Magistrate (south) Jean Kaira adjourned the matter to April 21 2021.

Ngomwa is answering six charges including, rape, defilement, indecency practices in the presence of a child, sexual intercourse with a minor under one’s care at Sunbird Capital in Lilongwe on August 16 2020, sexual intercourse with a minor under one’s care on July 10 2020 along Old Chileka Road popularly known as Magalasi Road and procuring defilement of a woman by administering drugs.
