President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has failed to live up to his promise of releasing a new Cabinet before the end of the month of March as earlier promised.
In a statement released on Wednesday, State House Press Officer Brian Banda said the new Cabinet will take some days to be released as the President has now received the Cabinet assessment reports from Vice President Saulos Chilima for his final review.
“Given that the reports are as substantial as the President’s review is thorough, the completion of the task will take a few more days longer than anticipated.
“Even so, the President is now fully seized of the matter and will release his Cabinet the instant he completes this sacred duty in a manner that conforms with the Constitution,” reads the statement in part.
According to the statement the exercise seeks to ensure that Malawians are given the best delivery of service by the appointed Ministers.
The President, through the statement, convey thanks to all Malawians for exercising patience as he carries out this process and trusting him to decide what Cabinet is right for Malawi which will be communicated in due time.
