Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says it will on Tuesday start consultations with political parties to consider a review of ward and constituencies boundaries.
A statement signed by MEC chief elections officer Sam Alufandika says the exercise will be completed on April 16.
According to MEC, the exercise should be done every five years but it was last done in 1998.
The commission says it also has plans to engage various stakeholders like parliament, civil society organizations, academia, and development partners, among others.
The re-demarcation of ward and constituency boundaries has been a topical issue for a long time with some members of parliament and councilors openly complaining that their areas are too big for a single councilor and MP.
