Mzuzu Magistrate Court has today 8 April adjourned a case in which former DPP regional governor Rev Christopher Mzomela Ngwira and others are being accused of injuring MCP supporters at a political rally which President Lazarus Chakwera addressed at Chibavi ground in Mzuzu in 2016.

The development follows the plea by Defense lawyer Christon Ghambi asked the court to discharge the suspects, accusing the state of failing to parade witnesses.

Presiding over the case, senior resident magistrate Paul Kandulu has since given state until 22 April 2021 to bring witnesses, failing which he will discharge the accused persons.

Rev Christopher Mzomela Ngwira who is saving a jail sentence at the Mzimba prison was not present at the court as he is reportedly admitted at the Mzuzu Central Hospital.
