The High Court in Blantyre has adjourned to a later date for judgement in a case in which a Malawi Congress Party aspirant for Mangochi-Monkey Bay Constituency, Gerald Kazembe, is challenging the victory of Ralph Jooma of the Democratic Progressive Party in the 2019 parliamentary race.

Presiding Judge Justice Jack N’riva has also ruled that both petitioners and defendants make their final written submissions within 14 days.

Two final witnesses were cross-examined on Thursday to conclude the case.

Two months ago, the High Court in Blantyre nullified results of three Constituencies in Nsanje and Chikwawa and ordered Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to hold fresh Parliamentary polls.

The fresh polls were held on March 30, 2021.
