Police in Lilongwe have confiscated smuggled good worth millions of Kwacha at Mitundu Trading Centre in the capital Lilongwe.

Spokesperson for Central West Region Alfred Chinthere confirmed of the development.

According to Chinthere, the goods were confiscated after a routine a raid.

He further added that two people were arrested during the exercise and the suspects will appear before court very soon.

A lot of Malawians are smuggling goods into the country through unchartered routes to avoid paying tax.
