Zomba-based cooperative, Chivunde Cooperative has appealed to individuals and companies to join hands in reclaiming the depletion of trees at the Zomba plantation.
Chairperson of the cooperative, Henderson Chiromo, made the remarks on Tuesday while stressing that there is a need for concerted efforts in ensuring that deforestation is cured.
Assistant Plantation Manager for Zomba Timber Plantation, Mathews Mkwapatira, disclosed that government is currently in a process of private partnerships in form of concessions for better management of the forest.
He disclosed that there were about one thousand workers to assist in the management of the forest but only forty are remaining.
