The former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has warned it will go to court to seek nullification of the June 23, 2020, fresh presidential elections on grounds it was presided over by an incompetent Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec).

The decision comes barely two days following the firing of two Mec Commissioners, Jean Mathanga and Linda Kunje by the government on Tuesday.

In a statement released today April 15, DPP spokesperson, Brown Mpinganjira, says the party wants the state of affairs to regress back to the scene prior to the June 23 presidential elections, with Peter Mutharika as President and Saulos Chilima as Vice President.
