Former Minister of Labour Ken Kandodo Banda has accepted his firing from Cabinet by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of Tonse Alliance.

Chakwera fired Kandodo Banda on Sunday night for allegedly having a hand in the plunder of MK6.2 million COVID-19 funds.

Writing on his official facebook page hailed Chakwera for allowing him to serve in his Cabinet.

“I thank the president for the opportunity he gave me to serve as a minister.I accept his decision to drop me.I did not borrow or refund any covid funds

“All financial transactions in a Ministry are done by the controlling officer. No minister is ever involved in these matters,” wrote Kandodo.

He added: “The trip referred to was undertaken as part of the state visit to south Africa. The refund was not done by me because I did not borrow.

“I do not mind the comments as we are all free people but I think it fair to put things into context.I welcome any investigation that may be deemed to be necessary.”

Meanwhile Chakwera has said his administration will not defend any top official involved in the plunder of COVID-19 funds.
