As Supreme Court Judge Healey Potani continues receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital after being involved in a road accident Saturday afternoon on the M1 road near Matindi in Blantyre, reports have indicated that the judge is in stable condition.

Chileka Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Peter Mchiza, has confirmed the development saying both the judge and the driver of the coaster’s condition is improving.

According to reports, a vehicle Registration Number JUD 7/MG 595 AK belonging to Judge Potani, was hit by a coaster Registration Number MH 6762 as the car was trying to make its way into the M1 road from the earth road at 17 miles near Matindi in Blantyre.

Inspector Mchiza also confirmed that more than 16 other people who were traveling in the coaster sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, following the development speedy recovery messages have been pouring in.

The latest was the Maseko Ngoni Heritage Trust in a letter dated April 17, 2021, signed by the Trust’s Secretary, Kandi Padambo.

The letter however started by acknowledging how saddened the Trust was by the Judge’s accident, saying they are happy that judge Potani’s condition is now stable.

“Let us all put our prayers for His Lordship Potani’ speed recovery,” reads part of the letter.

Judge Potani was among the five supreme court judges that nullified the 2019 presidential election and ordered for the fresh poll that took place in 2020.
