Malawi Bureau of standards (MBS) has underscored the need for the consumers in the country to embrace buying the products that are certified by the bureau.

Of late the country has been a washed with uncertified products both locally manufactured and imported.

In an interview with face of Malawi online publication the director general for the Malawi bureau of standards MBS Symon Mandala said that is very critical that Malawians are consuming products that are not hazardous to their lives.

In this regard Mandala said that as MBS is mandated to improve the standardlization of the products on the local market.

According to Mandala MBS has intensified the standalisation drive so as to safeguard the safety of the consumers.

Therefore Mandala has said that it is also the responsibility of the consumers to embrace buying the products that are certified by the bureau on the market.

Meanwhile one of the food service deliveries Meatco says that its products are certified by the malawi bureau of standards MBS.

Odara Nansiya the Meatco Company Blantyre branch manager said that if the local companies are to produce certified products consumer lives will not be at risk.

Meatco company is one of the food service delivery which is offering food services like Nsima,rice, chips meat and groceries.

According to Nansiya the company has two branches at ginnery corner and the other one in Blantyre. Nansiya went further to say that currently preparations are at an advanced stage to open another branch at pacific towers in Limbe by May next month.

According to Nansiya the company’s products went through the certified process by the malawi bureau of standards MBS before reaching the country’s market.

Meatco company is also proccesing other food products like beef Vienna’s,stake mince,sliced chicken polony, among others.
