Mzimba South Education Division has awarded best students in last year’s Primary School leaving certificate of Education [PSLCE] Examinations.

The awards came against the backdrop of Mzimba District getting position 17 in last year’s PSLCE results out of 34 education districts.

The district’s director of education, youth and sports Fiddes Msowoya said that previously the district has been in the bottom three in terms of PSLCE.

Msowoya argues that it is important to have the awards because our strength in terms of performance lies with the very people being honored.

Traditional Authority Kampingo Sibande who represented Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V said the awards will motivate the awardees and those who did not do well to aim high.

The award for the best school with highest number of learners selected to boarding schools was presented to Kankholikoli.  Twenty three learners made it to boarding school from the institution.

While Embangweni and Kaphuta came second and third with 18 and 17 pupils respectively.

Sydney Damakude of Kankholikoli won the best head head teacher awards followed by Alfred Mwanyetha of Embangweni and Charles Phiri of Kaphuta on second and third position respectively while Chrissensia Mhlanga of Kaphuta won the best special.
