Police in Chikwawa are keeping in custody two men for allegedly being found in possession of nine slaughtered goats without supporting livestock permits.

The two have been identified as Kennedy Chuma, 39, of Ndakwera Village, Traditional Authority Ndakwera and Gerald Matius, 22, of Sekeni Village Traditional Authority Lundu, both from Chikwawa District.

Chikwawa Police Public Relations Officer, Dickson Matemba said the two were arrested on April 22, 2021 at Kamudzu Bridge roadblock after police conducted a thorough search in the minbus they boarded from Chikwawa to Blantyre, and upon being asked to produce livestock permits, they failed to do so.

They will appear in court to answer the charge of being found in possession of carcass.
