Malawi Human Rights Commission’s (MHRC) findings into the alleged reports that the Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) set aside special arrangement to administer Covid-19 vaccine to the Indian community in Blantyre in March at Malmed Private Hospital has indeed proven to be true.

The recently released report by the commission has revealed that the exercise was organized by the Indian community and health workers from Blantyre District Health Office on grounds that once hired to administer the vaccine, they would be paid K20,000 allowances.

The development however led to an uproar on social media platforms with people describing the arrangement as racist, culminating in an investigation by the commission.
