The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has given the Presidential Taskforce seven days to recover money in the name of allowances that was given to leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa.

PAC made the demand yesterday when members of the presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 was appearing before the Committee to explain how Covid-19 funds were mismanaged under its watch

PAC asked why members of the Presidential To on Covid-19 were being given two nights for a day meeting and why were they given fuel refunds when some of the taskforce members reside in Lilongwe.

However, the committee told Nkhoma that Nankhumwa resides in Lilongwe.

Adding to that, the First Deputy Speaker Madalitso Kazombo has chipped in to say that as a Leader of Opposition, Nankhumwa gets monthly allowances, fuel, security officer and House rentals in Lilongwe.

Nkhoma said Nankhumwa was being given fuel allowance and accommodation on assumption that he was coming from Mulanje.

Nankhumwa, has been saying that he never received allowances as a member of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19.

PAC therefore ordered the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 to recover all allowances that were paid to Nankhumwa.
