Vice President Saulosi Chilima has ordered Nangaunozge Building Contractors to finish construction works at Machinga Secondary School in two months.
Chilima said this on Wednesday when he visited the school.
The Vice President said that if they are not interested to finish the work they have to say it in time so that they can engage other contractors.
He also added that after two months he will come to see the progress and he will pay the balance after they finish constructing the eight hostels and kitchen as they have agreed with the contract.
Chilima has advised the Ministry of Education not to select Form one learners to the school next year unless construction works are finished on time.
According to Head teacher of Machinga Secondary School Micah Zingani said construction work has stopped a year ago.
‘’ The School was supposed to have six hostels for girls and six for boys but only two girls hostels are functional,’’Zingani said.
Ministry of Education Spokesperson Chikondi Chimala said construction started with phase one comprising teaching area, staff houses, hostels, kitchen and maize mill.
Nangaunozge Building Contractor representatives who were present during the visit refused to comment.
