Vice President Saulosi Chilima has given three months to Ministry of Local Government to sort out bottlenecks preventing the opening of Mulanje Mission new market.
Chilima gave the ultimatum when he toured the market in Mulanje.
Construction of Mulanje Mission market started in 2017 and was completed in 2019.
Deputy Minister of Local Government, Halima Daudi, said despite completion of almost 90 percent of the construction work, the facility remains idle as people’s houses and other structures have blocked the entrance.
Chilima is currently touring government projects in the South and today he started the tour with a visit to Phalombe District Hospital which is under construction.
The Vice President assured the people of Phalombe that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will soon open the hospital.
