The Security Council of the United Nations has condemned the attack on the UNs Stabilization Mission in the DC yesterday in which a Lance Corporal from Malawi was killed in North Kivu.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Security Council has asked the DRC to “swiftly” probe the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The UN says “deliberate attacks targeting peacekeepers may constitute war crimes…”
Kamanga was killed in an ambush on a Malawi base in Beni by an illegal armed group.
Malawi is part of the UN force MONUSCO fighting to restore peace in the troubled mineral-rich DRC.
Kamanga (28) serving under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).
Meanwhile, President Lazarus Chakwera, has condoled the family of Kamanga saying the continent shall remember her for the role she played in peace keeping.
